What is Freemasonry?
Freemasonry is the worlds oldest Fraternity in the world and which all other fraternities are based off of. The primary goal is to build good men. Freemasons are focused on building themselves as people of integrity, and helps provide structure to help achieve that goal. Being a Freemason gives members a sense of purpose, supporting and guiding them on their journey through life.
Freemasonry is not a religion, but all members must believe in a Supreme Being (Higher Power). Members come from many faiths including Christianity, Islam, Jewish/Hebrew, Buddhist and many more.
History of Freemasonry
Most historians trace Freemasonry back to England in the middle ages to the operative stone masonic guilds and the Regius Poem around 1390, but in fact Freemasonry much more ancient in origin.
What are the 3 principles of Freemasonry?
- Brotherly Love – Every true Freemason will show tolerance and respect for the opinions of others and behave with kindness and understanding.
- Relief – Freemasons are taught to practice charity, and to care not only for their own, but also for the community as a whole, both by charitable giving, and by voluntary efforts and works as individuals.
- Truth – Freemasons strive for truth, requiring high moral standards and aiming to achieve them in their own lives. Freemasons believe that these principles represent a way of achieving higher standards in life.
